TWO POPULAR SPANISH DANCES ARGENTINITA a) Dance from Mallorca   Albeniz Based on typical steps of the Mallorcan "Bolero" and "EI Copeo." b) Aires de Castilla Gombao Song and Fandango. (Old authentic costumes from Mallorca and Salamanca.) 6. JOTA Granados ARGENTINITA, PILAR LOPEZ, JOSE GRECO, MANOLO VARGAS a) Jota Aragonesa: Pilar Lopez, Manolo Vargas b) Jota Valenciana: Argentinita, Jose Greco The two jotas most popular in Spain are danced—the Aragon and the Valencian. The two styles of this lively national dance are contrasted in the finale. 7. GUITAR SOLO—FLAMENCO MELODIES CARLOS MONTOYA 8. EL PUERTO Albeniz PILAR LOPEZ, JOSE GRECO, MANOLO VARGAS El Puerto is a little town in the Andalusian Province, full of sunshine and gaiety. The sweethearts of both girls listen to the discussion and then endeavor to patch the quarrel between the two girls and all four go off to a party. ZAMBRILLA GITANA—Cubita and Cadiz (Comic Tango Popular ARGENTINITA—CARLOS MONTOYA, Guitarist Cubita and Cadiz is the story of a little Negro boy from Cuba who visits Cadiz and shows the Andalusians the way his own people dance. The Flamenco dancers teach him their way of dancing. Both find kinship in their native rhythms. (Words by Argentinita) 14. BOLERO   Ravel ARGENTINITA, PILAR LOPEZ, JOSE GRECO, MANOLO VARGAS Two different schools of Spanish dancing are represented in this new choreographic arrangement of the popular work. In the first part the 18rh Century Andalusian school is used, which is similar to classic ballet. The second part is composed of the 19th Century Andalusian dances, using the steps and movements of the typical "Fandango" and "Soleares." The third part is a recapitulation in which the four dancers synthesize the earlier periods, showing the rich sources from which emerged the dance of 20th Century Spain. Choreography by Argentinita and Pilar Lopez. Costumes by Federico Rey. Costumes executed by Paquin of Paris; Amalia Fernandez, New York; Emilio Garcia, New-York; Katherine Kuhn, New York.
