FACTS WORTH KNOWING. A ton of coal weighs 2,000 pounds. Delivered in sacks, there should be 20 sacks of 100 pounds each. Coal should be delivered to your bins without making any dirt, because it should be carefully screened before sacking. Lump coal should be used for heating purposes, because a large lump will hold fire longer than small coal. Nut or egg size coal should be used in the kitchen range, because it is uniform in size, and does not have to be broken up in your basement, making a lot of dirt and fine stuff too fine to keep from falling through the grates. To insure yourself of receiving 2,000 pounds to the ton, of good, clean coal, that will give absolute satisfaction, order your fuel from the ROCK SPRINGS COAL CO., 288 East Morrison street. Phone East 184. Of the thousands of tons of coal delivered in Portland from this company, there has never been a complaint of short weight. Every sack of coal is weighed at exactly 100 pounds when the coal is sacked. The Calumet Hotel Seventh St., bet. Morrison and Alder First-Class Accommodations at Moderate Rates WILLIAM M. TELEPHONE MAIN 613 ( Daily ( Except Sunday ' tNVCK RAILROAD The Baker Stock Company has never been more enthusiastically received in any offering since thevoiitaing ofjfche season than it was Sunday afternoon, when Hoyt's best satirical coSRiy, "A Temperance Town," was revived before one of the largest audiences of the yijar. Those who have followed the fortunes of the Baker organization since it was -instituted will remember with great pleasure the previous run of "A Temperance Town" three years ago, in which William Dills and Howard Russell made their first big local successes. Both these favorite comedians are again appearing in their former roles, Dills as the tippling deacon and Russell as the hired boy, and their characterizations are rated as among the best ever seen here in "back country" plays. "A Temperance Town," with its atmosphere of pumpkin pies and roasting turkeys and sleighbells, makes an ideal Thanksgiving "Day attraction, and as a consequence a grand special matinee will be given Thursday. Next week the new lgading man, Mr. Ernest Hastings, will open in "A Social Highwayman.^' SYNOPSIS OF SCENERY Prologue—Parlor of the Occidental Hotel, Hickory Creek, 111. The old-times party.
