Proposed inner circumferential freeway

Map from a February 1965 Portland City Planning Commission report advocating for building the I-205 freeway along SE and NE 52nd Ave. This map shows a proposed freeway system encircling Portland. The freeway loop has several parts: the 52nd I-205 Freeway, the Sellwood I-205 Freeway, the Multnomah Freeway, the Tualatin Mountains Freeway and the Columbia Freeway. The map also shows alternate routes through Lake Oswego and Beaverton-Tigard. A small portion of the loop was built as Highway 217, but none of the other proposed freeways were built as recommended here.
