Description
Aerial photograph from a 1956 report, altered to show a proposed exposition and recreation center, including parking and highway access, in the neighborhood between the Broadway and Steel bridges, on the east side of the Willamette River. This is the site where the Exposition-Recreation Center (now called the Veterans Memorial Coliseum) was ultimately built. More than 200 African American families, a sizeable part of the city's Black population, were displaced by the development.
