Description
Billy Reed’s was a restaurant, bar and music venue that operated out of the renovated Standard Dairy building on Martin Luther King Boulevard and Graham. Opened in 1999, the much-lauded space hosted political functions, concerts, panel discussions, and poetry readings until it closed in 2006. Though it was always known for providing space to jazz musicians, the club would become a refuge for displaced musicians from New Orleans in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, hosting a weekly show in conjunction with the organization NOLA2PDX. This photo is from the venue’s weekly open mic called Wone Night Excursion hosted by AJ Wone.
