Lewis & Clark Monument

Description

Lewis & Clark Monument at the Lewis and Clark Exposition held in Portland, Oregon in 1905. It was commissioned by the Lewis and Clark Exposition Commission for approximately $10,500 as a gift of the people of Oregon in memory of Meriwether Lewis and William Clark. The first cornerstone was laid by President Theodore Roosevelt on May 21, 1903. The monument is now located in Washington Park, Portland, Oregon.
