Personal. Portland, Oregon, August 12, '05.
Dear Sir:
Please allow no other engagement, however important, to interfere with your being present at the opening session of the TRANS-MISSISSIPPI COMMERCIAL CONGRESS, Wednesday, August 16th, at 9:30 A. M. , at the Auditorium on the Lewis and Clark Exposition grounds.
This is not only the most important industrial convention that will convene in this city during 1905, but the Congress has honored Portland and Oregon by choosing Mr. Theo. B. Wilcox as Pres ident.
Mr. Wilcox Is Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Portland Commercial Club, and we are profoundly indebted to him for one of the most active campaigns of publicity the United States has ever witnessed, and there is no way in which we can show our appreciation to better advantage than by being present at the opening of this Congress. Many distinguished men will be here from all parts of the country.
Please do not leave this duty to someone else--Y0UR presence is needed. Seats will be provided for the ladies in the gallery, and they will be most cordially welcome.
Thanking you in advance for complying with this request, I am,
Very truly yours,
President Portland Commercial Club.
P. S. This invitation is written upon the stationery of the National Irrigation Congress so that you may keep that very important meeting in mind.
