Gol. Henry E. Dosch,
Oare Lewis & Clark Centennial Exposition. This City. My dear Colonel:-
I want to congratulate you upon your appointment. I believe that when you were in Japan, I wrote a letter urging and recommending your appointment as Director General. This was probably to Mr. Gor-bett. I met Mr. William M. Ladd a few days afterward, and he seemed to think you were the proper man. Of course, I have no objections to Mr. Goode, and have none because ha is a vary good man, but ray idea was for you, largely because you had such varied experience - always successful.
I held a letter from Mr. H. D. Hardt, seeking appointment of some kind, you remember that he was here in f94, I think, and the first year was successful. He is a very good exposition man, and could be made very useful, probably, you know more about him than I do..
I would like to have a talk with yon, and'wish you would name the time and place.
