Concert program for a performance by Spanish singer and dancer Argentinita, also known as Encarnación López Júlvez. Argentinita performed to works by Pittaluga, Infante, Navarro, Turina, Chuca and Breton, Ravel and Rimsky-Korsakov. Also performing were dancers Pilar Lopez, Jose Greco and Manolo Vargas. Guitarist Carlos Montoya and pianist Pablo Miquel provided accompaniment.

This is called a "Piropo." 3. DANCE No. 4 (From Dance Suite) Pittaluga PILAR LOPEZ This dance has been inspired by the classic Spanish school of 1800. 4. GUITAR SOLO Gypsy Melodies Carlos Montoya 5. CASTILLIAN DANCE Navarro ARGENTINITA — PILAR LOPEZ — Jose Greco Courtship and gallantry during a "Fiesta" afternoon, danced to a popular folk melody of Castilla. Authentic costume of Lagartera (Toledo). 6. SACRO MONTE Turina Manolo Vargas 7. HUAYNO (Peruvian Dance) Folk Tunes ARGENTINITA —PILAR LOPEZ A ritual dance, performed at pageants and contests, which the Incas danced for days without rest. The subtle monotony evokes the faith and the traditions of this ancient race. 8. POLO GITANO Breton Jose Greco 9. IN OLD MADRID Chuca and Breton Selections from Spanish "Zarzuelas" (musical comedies) at the end of the 19th century; AGUA AZUCARILLOS—AGUARDIENTE—VERBENA DE LA PALOMA Choreography by Argentinita and Pilar Lopez a. Seguidillas Argentinita b. Los Barquilleros (the cookie vendors) Jose Greco Manolo Vargas c. La Aguadora (the water seller) Pilar Lopez d. Mazurca Argentinita e. La Bronca (the quarrel) Argentinita Pilar Lopez Two girl vendors quarrel when one attempts to sell her water and liquors at the other girl's stand. RUTA DE SEVILLA (On the way to Seville) Infante ARGENTINITA — PILAR LOPEZ Jose Greco — Manolo Vargas — Carlos Montoya Some Gypsies on their way to Seville, singing and dancing on the street, hoping that someone will pass and offer them some pennies. A young "Gent" from Seville happens to pass by and the Gypsies perform all their tricks to entertain him and obtain some reward. As the Gent is not impressed and mocks them, they decide to rob him of his wallet and watch . . . but the Sevillan is more astute than they think and he departs, stealing from them everything they possess. 11. ALBORADA DEL GRACIOSO Ravel Jose Greco 12. MALLORCA Albeniz ARGENTINITA Dance based on typical steps of the Mallorcan "Bolero" and "El Copeo." 13. ALEGRIAS-ROSAS (Gypsy Dance) Folk Tunes PILAR LOPEZ — Carlos Montoya 14. TWO POPULAR SPANISH DANCES. a. "Folias," Song and Dance from the Canary Islands. ARGENTINITA In the Canary Islands there is a very ancient dance called "Canario." This is executed with very lively and gracious heel-work. This might be the origin of the "Zapateado" or heel-work of many other Spanish dances. b. Jota de Alcaniz Font ARGENTINITA The dance of the lower Aragon villages, slower, rhythmically more solemn and definite than the "City" Jota. 15. CAPRICHO ESPANOL (Ballet) Rimsky-Korsakov a.
