Fun Facts:
- Donates 100% of net profits to organizations that are working to effect positive social change both in Portland and around the world.
- Men’s Health magazine recognized Ex Novo as one of the seven best places in the nation to drink beer for a good cause.
Housed in a complex built in the 1940s, Ex Novo Brewing features exposed beams, a natural wood bar, and front-row view of the brewing process. Founded in 2014 by former engineer Joel Gregory, the brewery is the first of its kind in Portland. All net profits are donated to four handpicked nonprofit organizations: Friends of the Children, International Justice Mission, Impact NW, and MercyCorps.
Ex Novo also offers patrons a fine list of wine and whiskey options, although the heart of the operation remains in its beer. To celebrate its one year anniversary on June 2, 2015, Ex Novo released limited edition bottles of its Unus Barrel Aged Brett Saison. Since then, the brewery has bottled special release beers and begun plans to distribute some of its popular brews in cans.
