Melding Portland’s Beervana status with the city’s growing renown for good food, Burnside Brewing Co. finds itself at the vanguard of a new brewing trend. Burnside is considered one of the first brewpubs in Portland to serve food that is beyond standard pub grub, actively choosing brews that complement delectable offerings from the kitchen. Established in 2010, the brewery utilizes a wide array of spices and local ingredients to craft beers that surprise the palate.
And with a 15-barrel system in use seven days per week, Burnside Brewing promises to add even more unexpected options to its 500-beer brew list. Continued use of local ingredients like Coleman Farms hops, Bob’s Red Mill oats, and fresh fruit certainly contribute to the brews’ unique, complementary flavors. It’s a strategy that will likely keep Burnside at the forefront of creative microbrewing practices.
