In 1984, when the Widmer Brewing Company officially opened, the brothers Rob and Kurt, along with their father, Ray began brewing two beers, the Altbier and the Weizenbier. In 1986, by request, they added another beer -- the American-style Hefeweizen which became a smashing success and launched the brothers into craft brewing history.
