On the back of the photograph: A group of Friendship House workers acting as hostesses for fellowship hour of Urban League meeting. The Urban League encourages the establishment of Friendship House and the two organizations have worked cooperatively to improve race relations in Portland. This photograph was taken in the 1950s.

Friendship House vs. Friendly House
The description of this photo related to Friendship House directs people to an article about Friendly House. These are completely different organizations. Friendship House had established several locations nationwide including Portland.
My father worked for a short time at the Portland Friendship House and then at the Chicago Friendship House which is how I know a little about it's history. Here's a link to a Wikipedia article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Friendship_House
