Description
This collection of documents concerns the police raid on the U-Bar Club, on February 7th, 1915. The raid followed an article in the African American newspaper, The Advocate, where a former public official described his policy of not prosecuting gambling and other illegal activities in the African American community. The last document is a letter from an anonymous correspondent claiming the Club had been patronized, protected and encouraged by the police over the previous five years.
