The restaurant was often targeted and vandalized by white supremacists. In March 1981, two Portland Police officers left dead opossums in front of the building. Boddie witnessed a second racist attack a year later when another dead animal was thrown at the restaurant. He was also harassed and threatened over the phone at the restaurant by white supremacists.
