Sheriff Bill Travis

Sheriff Bill Travis (left) was hired (along with Matt Dishman) by the City of Vanport to be a deputy sheriff. They were the first men hired by the sheriff’s department in Multnomah County in almost twenty years. The photograph dates from around 1940.
