This photograph shows the Bill Becker orchestra at McElroy’s Ballroom, Portland, Oregon, in the mid 1950s. The woman in the center is Berna Deanne Plummer, who was a member of Delta Sigma Theta, a secretary at the YMCA, and a social worker with Catholic Charities. McElroy's Ballroom was located downtown, on the current site of Portland City Hall. The photograph was taken by Herb Perkins.
